Marko Collins-Lucic | Apprentice

I have recently joined the Country and Coast Construction team in 2021 as an apprentice and Dakota enthusiast.
Growing up
I grew up in Pauatahanui on a small lifestyle-farm, afterwards I attended Taratahi agricultural training centre completing a sheep and beef agricultural course. I decided to come back home to hopefully start an apprenticeship.
I started my building career in 2017 with a small family run building company. While with this company I started doing a building apprenticeship through WelTec. With 2 more years to go before I become qualified I aim to achieve this to the best of my ability. There has been lots of growth and learning for me while building.
The most rewarding aspect of construction for me is aiming to do the highest quality work I can, while working in a good environment with like minded people.
Hobbies
During my spare time I really enjoy outdoor-physical activities. My main hobbies would be farming, diving, fishing, hunting, motor cross-trail rides, tramping and many other activities. Recently I have invested in to a 14ft aluminium tinny boat and really enjoy getting out when I can. West coast would be my favourite places for diving and fishing. Muay Thai keeps me fit and active, I train through Alpha Muaythai in Porirua. A lot of my time and effort goes in to this, this is something I am really keen and passionate about!
Goals
My goals within the building industry would be to complete my apprenticeship as best as I can!
One day with the hopes of heading overseas to travel building and farming is a big goal for me, I believe this will help me as a person grow and learn making me a better person and one day a better builder.
